Date for Damodar Kunda Trek 2016 is already fixed. It will be held by August. On the full moon of August, you will be camping by the side of a lake. Located in the southeast of Jomsom Lo Manthang Trek, Damodar Kunda is a collection of three very small glacial lakes. The holy books of Hindu had described the importance of the lake. It is a very sacred place for both Hindu and Buddhist Devotees. To know more about Damodar Kunda, click here.
A good number of domestic devotees will make a pilgrimage trip to Damodar Kunda. Despite of weather, whether cold or hot, they will take their holy bath. For you as a trekker, there is a beautiful viewpoint little above the lake. Some of the famous climbing peaks of Upper Mustang are located nearby. Also, this is a part of Nar Phu to Lo Manthang Traversing Trail. However, during August you will neither encounter with climber nor with traversing them. The trail will be heavily tracked by pilgrims. Either Buddhist or Hindu.
You will follow 15 Days Trek Itinerary, starting in Kagbeni and ending in Muktinath. Your permit days start once you enter from Kagbeni. Also, you will make an exit, entry in Muktinath. We had to allocate two days each on the start and end of the trek. This time is for getting into Kagbeni and back to Kathmandu. We will drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and vice versa. From Pokhara we will fly to Jomsom and trek three hours to reach Kagbeni.
Last by ___ you should be in Kathmandu. We need one working day to issue the permits. You will be exploring the heritage sites, which are turned partially into rubble after devastating earthquake. Hopefully by that time three of them will be restored into normal. Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Square need some time.
